I like basketball because you do not need much to get started: a ball, a hoop, and a few people willing to play. Some of the best games happen in school gyms, driveways, and local parks, not big arenas.

Yes, especially for teenagers. You do not need a full team right away. Two-on-two or three-on-three still feels like a real game. That makes it easier than sports where you need a large field and many players.
