Our family has been shaped by several cultures and countries over the years. I grew up in Mysuru, Karnataka, in a Mangalorean family, while Lorraine was born in Kenya and raised in Goa, where Portuguese influences remain part of everyday life. We later spent many years working in Saudi Arabia before immigrating to Canada in 1991. These experiences have influenced how we think about family, traditions, language, and identity. For families with multicultural backgrounds, how do you preserve your heritage while adapting to life in a new country?

As someone who grew up between Chinese and Canadian cultures, I appreciated that my parents explained why traditions mattered instead of simply expecting us to follow them.
