What community project would make the biggest positive difference in Toronto over the next five years?
As a small business owner, I've seen how much stronger neighborhoods become when residents work together on practical projects. Toronto has many needs: affordable housing, community gardens, youth programs, neighborhood cleanups, newcomer support, public spaces, and local safety initiatives.
If our city could fully fund one major community project over the next five years, which project would create the greatest positive impact for the most people? Why?

From my perspective as a family physician, I would prioritize neighborhood-based community health and wellness hubs. Many residents struggle to access preventative care, mental health services, nutrition education, and social supports.
Small local hubs integrated into existing community centers could reduce pressure on hospitals while helping people stay healthier.

I'd focus on youth trades and skills centers. We constantly hear about shortages of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and other skilled workers.
Community workshops where teenagers and young adults can explore trades, learn practical skills, and connect with apprenticeships would benefit both individuals and the local economy.

I think we need more community spaces where people can meet, study, create projects, and organize activities. Many young people feel disconnected despite living in a large city.
Libraries are great, but dedicated multi-purpose community hubs could bring together students, seniors, newcomers, artists, and local groups.

As a newcomer, I'd invest in neighborhood newcomer integration programs. Toronto welcomes thousands of immigrants every year, but many struggle to build social networks.
Projects that connect newcomers with local mentors, volunteer opportunities, language exchanges, and community events could strengthen neighborhoods across the city.

I would support expanding community gardens and urban agriculture projects. Besides producing food, these projects bring people together across cultures and generations.
Toronto's diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and community gardens often become gathering places where residents share knowledge, traditions, and friendships.
