Which Toronto festival or live event best represents the city's multicultural identity?
One of the things that impressed me most after moving to Toronto was the number of festivals taking place throughout the year. Whether it's Pride, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana), TIFF, Luminato, Taste of the Danforth, Nuit Blanche, or one of the many cultural celebrations across the city, Toronto always seems to have something happening.
If you had to choose one festival or live event that best represents Toronto's multicultural identity, which would it be and why?

For me, it's the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, often still called Caribana by many residents. The event showcases Caribbean culture through music, dance, food, and community participation. What I love is that people from every background attend and celebrate together. It feels like Toronto's diversity on full display.

I would choose Nuit Blanche. Toronto's neighborhoods, public spaces, artists, and communities all become part of the event. You can walk through the city all night and encounter people from every culture sharing the same experience.

My choice would be Taste of the Danforth. Toronto's Greek community created the event, but today it attracts residents from every cultural background. It demonstrates how immigrant communities contribute to the city's broader identity.

I would nominate Pride Toronto. Beyond being a celebration, it brings together people from many cultures, faiths, backgrounds, and generations. It demonstrates Toronto's commitment to inclusion and respect for diversity.

I think TIFF best represents modern Toronto. People from around the world come to the city, and Toronto becomes a meeting place for global storytelling, art, and culture. The international nature of the festival reflects the international nature of Toronto itself.
