If a friend had only one weekend to experience Toronto like a local, what would you recommend?
Whenever friends or relatives visit Toronto, they usually ask the same question: "What should I see?"
Most tourists visit the CN Tower and a few downtown attractions, but locals often recommend neighborhoods, markets, parks, restaurants, festivals, waterfront trails, and hidden gems that don't always appear in travel guides.
If someone had only one weekend in Toronto and wanted to experience the city like a local rather than a tourist, what would you recommend?

I would recommend spending part of the weekend at St. Lawrence Market. It has been a gathering place for residents for generations and offers an excellent introduction to Toronto's food culture. From there, visitors can easily walk through the historic downtown core and waterfront.

My recommendation would be the waterfront. Start with a walk through Trillium Park, continue along the lakefront trails, and enjoy the skyline views. Many visitors are surprised by how much green space Toronto has right beside a major urban center.

I would tell them to spend a day exploring neighborhoods rather than attractions. The Junction, Queen West, and the Distillery District each have their own character. Toronto is really a collection of neighborhoods, and that's where you get a sense of how residents actually live.

I know it's a tourist attraction, but I would still include CN Tower. The view helps visitors understand the scale of the city. I'd combine it with a visit to nearby Ripley's Aquarium of Canada and then spend the rest of the day exploring neighborhoods.
