Are in-person networking events still valuable in Toronto, or have online communities largely replaced them?

As a small business owner, I've attended many networking events over the years. Toronto has no shortage of opportunities, from entrepreneur meetups and startup events to industry-specific gatherings and community networking groups. Organizations such as Toronto Entrepreneurs, Toronto Business Network, and various professional Meetup communities continue to attract members despite the growth of online networking platforms.

Do you still find value in attending in-person networking events, or do online communities now serve the same purpose?

As a newcomer, I think in-person networking is still extremely valuable. Online groups are useful for information, but it's much easier to build trust and friendships when you meet people face-to-face.

I use both. Online communities help me discover events and opportunities, but the strongest professional connections I've made happened during in-person conversations after a meeting or workshop.

For skilled trades, in-person networking is still king. Many opportunities come through recommendations and relationships built over time. Digital platforms help, but they don't completely replace personal interaction.

I think Toronto benefits from having both options. Meetup groups, entrepreneur communities, and professional organizations allow people to connect online first and then meet in person when they're comfortable.

Healthcare professionals also benefit from networking events. They allow people from different organizations and specialties to exchange ideas and learn from one another in ways that are often difficult to replicate online.
