Which Toronto neighborhood offers the best food experience, and what makes it special?
One of the things I love most about Toronto is that you can experience cuisines from around the world without leaving the city. Whether it's Chinese food in Markham and Scarborough, South Asian food in Scarborough, Little Italy, Greektown, Koreatown, Portuguese restaurants in Little Portugal, or the many international vendors at St. Lawrence Market and Kensington Market, the options seem endless.
If you were introducing a visitor to Toronto's food scene, which neighborhood would you take them to first, and why?

My choice would be Scarborough. Many people think of downtown first, but Scarborough has some of the city's most authentic and diverse food options. You can find excellent Chinese, Hakka, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, and South Asian restaurants within a relatively small area.
The variety reflects Toronto's multicultural population remarkably well.

I would take visitors to Kensington Market. It may not have the largest concentration of any single cuisine, but it captures Toronto's multicultural character better than almost anywhere else. Walking a few blocks exposes you to food traditions from many parts of the world.

As a newcomer, I would choose St. Lawrence Market. It offers both local specialties and international foods, and visitors can sample several different cuisines in one place.
It also provides some historical context about Toronto.

I would recommend Greektown on the Danforth. The restaurants, bakeries, cafés, and food festivals create a strong neighborhood identity. Taste of the Danforth remains one of Toronto's best-known food events.

Little Portugal and Dundas West deserve consideration. The area combines traditional Portuguese influences with newer restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and international food concepts.
It represents how Toronto's food scene continues to evolve.
