Community Guidelines
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES FOR POLYGLOTAPP
===================================
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
PolyglotApp brings people together in communities where they can communicate across languages. These Community Guidelines set standards for everyone who creates, joins, or participates in a PolyglotApp community.
These Guidelines form part of the PolyglotApp Terms of Use. By using PolyglotApp, you agree to follow them and any additional rules established by the owner of a community you join. If these Guidelines conflict with the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use govern.
These Guidelines describe user conduct and the actions that may be taken in response. They do not promise that PolyglotApp or a community owner will monitor all content, identify every violation, respond within a particular time, or take a particular action in every case.
1. WHO MAY USE POLYGLOTAPP
--------------------------
PolyglotApp is intended only for people who are 18 years of age or older. You must provide accurate information where PolyglotApp requests factual account information, keep your account secure, and not impersonate or materially misrepresent another person or organization. Your Display Name does not have to be your legal name, but it must comply with these Guidelines.
2. COMMUNICATE RESPECTFULLY
---------------------------
PolyglotApp includes people from different countries, languages, cultures, religions, backgrounds, and points of view. Disagreement is permitted, but it must not become abuse.
When participating in a community:
* Discuss ideas without attacking, degrading, or humiliating people.
* Do not threaten, intimidate, bully, stalk, or harass anyone.
* Do not target people because of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital or family status, disability, or another characteristic protected by applicable law.
* Do not repeatedly contact or follow someone who has asked you to stop.
* Respect the stated purpose and valid additional rules of each community.
* Remember that translations may be imperfect. Ask for clarification before assuming harmful intent where it is safe and reasonable to do so.
3. PROHIBITED CONTENT AND CONDUCT
---------------------------------
Do not post, promote, request, transmit, or distribute content — or use PolyglotApp in any way — that:
* Is unlawful or facilitates, solicits, or credibly encourages unlawful activity.
* Threatens, harasses, bullies, stalks, exploits, or deliberately humiliates another person.
* Promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against a person or group based on a characteristic protected by applicable law.
* Sexually exploits or endangers a child, depicts or facilitates child sexual abuse or exploitation, or otherwise places a child at risk.
* Contains non-consensual intimate material, sexual deepfakes, or other material that violates a person's sexual privacy.
* Contains sexually explicit or pornographic material, including graphic sexual text, images, audio, video, or generated content, or promotes the creation or distribution of such material.
* Promotes prostitution, escort services, compensated sexual activity, or sexual exploitation.
* Contains gratuitously graphic violence, gore, or animal cruelty.
* Supports, recruits for, promotes, or glorifies terrorism or a violent extremist organization. Good-faith news, educational, historical, or public-interest discussion is permitted when it does not promote or facilitate such activity.
* Encourages self-harm or other dangerous conduct, or gives instructions intended or likely to cause serious harm.
* Reveals another person's private, confidential, or sensitive information without lawful authority or valid permission.
* Is defamatory, infringes copyright or trademarks, or violates privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
* Is fraudulent or materially deceptive, involves impersonation, or is intended to manipulate or defraud others.
* Contains demonstrably false information likely to cause serious physical harm or materially interfere with voting or another democratic process.
* Provides instructions, software, products, or services intended to facilitate hacking, unauthorized surveillance, identity theft, or unauthorized access to accounts, devices, systems, or data.
* Contains spam, malicious links, malware, unauthorized advertising, or repeated unwanted promotions.
* Interferes with PolyglotApp's operation, security, or access controls, or attempts to evade moderation, account restrictions, or safeguards.
Content may also be restricted or removed when it is seriously disruptive, unrelated to a community's stated purpose, or contrary to reasonable community-specific rules, even if it is not expressly listed above.
Commercial or promotional content is permitted only when it is relevant to a community's stated purpose and complies with its rules. Unrelated, deceptive, repetitive, or unwanted promotion is prohibited.
4. PROTECT PERSONAL AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION
---------------------------------------------
Do not post personal, confidential, or sensitive information that you do not want other people to see. A community's visibility settings, conversations and replies may be accessible beyond the community or to people who are not signed in.
Your Display Name, as entered during registration, is displayed with your PolyglotApp activity and is not automatically translated. It follows the visibility of that activity and may therefore be visible to community members, other people, or people who are not signed in. Your Username, email address, password, and preferred language are not displayed as profile information.
Your Display Name does not have to be your legal name, but it must not impersonate another person or organization or materially mislead other users. Do not create an account or post if you are not comfortable with your Display Name and activity being visible to the applicable audience.
Do not publish another person's home address, private contact details, government identification numbers, financial information, account credentials, medical information, or other sensitive information without lawful authority and valid permission.
Information submitted in a report may be reviewed and used to investigate and respond to the report in accordance with the PolyglotApp Privacy Policy. Share only information reasonably necessary to explain the concern.
5. TRANSLATION AND LANGUAGE DIFFERENCES
---------------------------------------
PolyglotApp uses automated translation to help members communicate across languages. Translations may contain mistakes, omit context, or change the tone or meaning of a message. Do not deliberately exploit translation errors or language differences to mislead, insult, or exclude others.
The original message is the authoritative version of a user's content. When meaning is uncertain, members, community owners, and D'Costa Thinkshop may consider the original message, available translations, context, and any clarification provided. No moderation decision is guaranteed to rely on any single version or factor.
6. COMMUNITY-SPECIFIC RULES
---------------------------
A community owner may establish additional rules reasonably related to the community's purpose. Additional rules must be communicated to members and must remain consistent with these Guidelines, the Terms of Use, and applicable law.
Community-specific rules cannot authorize content or conduct prohibited by PolyglotApp. If there is a conflict, the Terms of Use and these Guidelines take priority.
7. ROLE OF COMMUNITY OWNERS
---------------------------
Community owners are users of PolyglotApp. They are not employees, agents, representatives, or legal partners of D'Costa Thinkshop merely because they create or moderate a community, and they cannot make commitments on behalf of D'Costa Thinkshop.
Using the moderation functions made available by PolyglotApp, community owners are expected to:
* State the community's purpose and communicate any additional rules.
* Consider reports about conversations, replies, or members in their community and take reasonable action using available community-owner functions, including deleting inappropriate content where appropriate.
* Use personal information received in a report only as reasonably necessary for moderation, safety, escalation, or legal compliance; avoid unnecessary disclosure of the report, supporting information, or reporter's identity; and do not retaliate against a reporter.
* Avoid unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in their use of moderation powers.
* Escalate credible concerns involving imminent danger, child sexual abuse or exploitation, serious repeated misconduct, or potentially unlawful content to D'Costa Thinkshop and, where appropriate, emergency services or other authorities.
* Cooperate with reasonable platform-level reviews and enforcement actions.
Community owners may moderate content within their own communities using the functions PolyglotApp makes available to them. They cannot delete accounts, delete other communities, or take action outside their own communities. Matters requiring platform-level action should be escalated to D'Costa Thinkshop.
D'Costa Thinkshop may review or override a community owner's decision, but is not required to resolve every disagreement about a community-specific rule.
8. REPORTING CONTENT OR USERS
-----------------------------
If you believe that a conversation, reply, or user violates these Guidelines, you may report it to the owner of the community in which it occurred. Reports may also be escalated to D'Costa Thinkshop when the community owner has not addressed the matter, is involved in the complaint, or appears to be misusing moderation powers.
A report should identify the relevant community, content, or account and briefly explain the concern. Do not knowingly submit false, misleading, repetitive, abusive, or retaliatory reports. Do not send copies of suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation material; identify the location of the material instead.
For a notice alleging unlawful content, include the exact electronic location of the content, such as its URL or other available identifier; a sufficiently explained reason why you believe it is unlawful; your name and email address, except where applicable law permits an anonymous notice; and a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in the notice is accurate and complete. Copyright notices should also include the information listed in the Terms of Use.
Reports are not guaranteed to be anonymous or confidential. Information may be shared where reasonably necessary to investigate or respond, including with the affected community owner, the reported user, advisers, service providers, or authorities, as described in the Privacy Policy. Provide only the minimum information necessary and do not include information that would create an avoidable safety risk if disclosed.
PolyglotApp is not an emergency service and reports are not monitored continuously. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact 911 or the appropriate local emergency service. Concerns about the online sexual exploitation of a child in Canada may also be reported to Cybertip.ca.
Reports and escalations to D'Costa Thinkshop may be sent to: support@polyglotapp.club
9. PLATFORM-LEVEL REVIEW AND MODERATION
---------------------------------------
D'Costa Thinkshop does not undertake to proactively monitor every community, conversation, reply, account, translation, or external link. It may, however, review content, accounts, reports, and related information and take action when it reasonably believes that these Guidelines, the Terms of Use, community rules, or applicable law may have been violated, or when action may be needed to protect users, other people, or the platform.
D'Costa Thinkshop may act whether or not a community owner has acted and may consider the nature, context, seriousness, frequency, and apparent impact of the conduct; available evidence; previous violations; technical limitations; and legal or safety requirements. Reports may not receive an individual reply. No particular investigation, response time, outcome, or enforcement action is guaranteed.
Where permitted or required by law and consistent with the Privacy Policy, D'Costa Thinkshop may preserve relevant information and disclose it to service providers, advisers, regulators, law-enforcement agencies, courts, or other appropriate authorities.
Where applicable law requires, D'Costa Thinkshop will report or notify the appropriate organization or authority, preserve relevant computer data for the required period, and avoid disclosures that could prejudice an investigation.
10. ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS
-----------------------
Depending on the circumstances and available functions, a community owner may:
* Take no action where a violation cannot be substantiated.
* Request information or clarification.
* Issue a reminder or warning.
* Delete inappropriate conversations, replies, or associated translations within the owner's community.
* Escalate a matter to D'Costa Thinkshop.
Depending on the circumstances and available platform functions, D'Costa Thinkshop may:
* Take any of the actions available to a community owner.
* Delete content or associated translations.
* Delete an account.
* Delete a community.
* Preserve information or refer a matter to an appropriate authority where permitted or required by law.
D'Costa Thinkshop may take action without prior notice, particularly where it reasonably considers the matter serious, urgent, unlawful, or harmful to users, other people, or the platform. D'Costa Thinkshop may use automated or manual means to support enforcement, but moderation decisions may be imperfect.
D’Costa Thinkshop may delete content, an account, or a community without advance notice. Except where applicable law requires otherwise, D’Costa Thinkshop is not required to provide the affected user with the evidence, internal deliberations, or a detailed explanation for its decision.
11. RECONSIDERATION AND APPEALS
-------------------------------
A member may ask a community owner to reconsider a moderation decision, unless doing so would be inappropriate or unsafe. A member may then submit an appeal to D'Costa Thinkshop at support@polyglotapp.club.
An appeal should identify the community, affected content or account, original decision, and reason reconsideration is requested. D'Costa Thinkshop may decide whether and how to review an appeal. Submitting an appeal does not suspend a decision or guarantee a response, a particular review process, or reversal.
12. CHANGES TO THESE GUIDELINES
-------------------------------
D'Costa Thinkshop may update these Community Guidelines as PolyglotApp develops or as legal, safety, or platform requirements change. The revised Guidelines will be posted within PolyglotApp or on the PolyglotApp website with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated as described in the Terms of Use or as required by applicable law.
